It's rainbow lorikeet season, and there they are in profusion in the Thuja orientalis Aurea Nana (It's a sort of rounded conifer with little light green 'nuts').

They are so excited by the bounty of this bush that they are bobbing about like exotic tropical flowers, taking flight every now and again to pass the message onto their friends and families!

I come inside and there is mother magpie on the roof with her crippled leg, hobbling towards me to receive some tidbits. I have been here for about 13 years now and she made me her friend from day one. I am constantly in awe of her perseverance, and inspired by her refusing to let her condition hinder her.

Birds are telepathic you know. I love the way they cock their heads when I am 'talking' to them in my mind, and the way they take wing when I 'tell' them it is time to go.

Pretty bird. I read something online about feeding crows and they'll eventually bring you treasures they find..shiny odds and ends, and what not. Kind of cool.

Very "cool" RainyDay!

I've been making friends with a little crow family for a while now, but they are still wary. The magpies, however, sometimes leave their 'treasure' of sparkly regurgitated insects!

I am really looking forward to the day the crows first eat from my hand, like the Noisy Miners and the magpies.

As I look out the door just now there is a crow pecking away at the crumbs left by the Noisy miners. :)! I hope Jung is looking down from wherever he went AfterLife and smiling at the synchronicity.

Ha ha ha.

Bear in mind that I have not seen the crows for a week!

I saw a Magpie "play" this morning and thought of you Victoria. Just as I dropped my youngest at creche, there was a Mapie jumping from one stationary car to the other - so 2 cars parked next to each other. It kept on jumping up and down between the two. They were at different levels and it reminded me of kids climbing on an elevated object and jumping down. It was so cute to see!!
